7. Transitioning to Full Time Art Career with Lindsey Kooyman
This week we have Lindsey Kooyman interviewing LIVE. I was drawn to Lindsey’s vibrant, psychedelic, trippy, style of painting animals. It’s kind of similar to my own rainbow style animal paintings, which probably explains why I love her art so much, but I think it’s so interesting how two different artists in two completely separate cities are drawn to the same kind of style, yet we both put our own spin on it. For a long time I got so caught up in the idea of, “oh someone has already thought of that so if I did it too I’d be copying them,” but that’s not rational at all. I know several artists who do similar things and they all execute it differently. You can tell the difference between his painting or her painting, just like you can tell the different between mine and Lindsey’s, even though they’re all the same subject or style. I love Lindsey’s positive energy in this episode and how open and honest she is about her art journey. If you’re still in the transitioning period between having art as your side hustle and hoping to go full time, then I bet you’ll be able to relate to a lot of what Lindsey has to say. Okay, enough of the intro, I’ll press play so you can see what I’m talking about.
